Our Mission

The objective behind the SafetyNet project is to devise a system that will expand drivers’ awareness. This extra layer of automated safety features aims to be a proactive solution to promote defensive driving. In addition, we aim to create the first system to rate drivers on their current driving patterns.

Concept of Operation

The SafetyNet device will include three main functionalities

  • Driver rating system

  • GPS map (Google Maps API) capable of displaying nearby vehicles

  • Sub programs to warn driver of potential dangers

With the successful completion of this project, we aim to provide:

  • A  device which displays the location of nearby vehicles using GPS location on a display screen using a Google Maps API.

  • A device that will utilize a front mounted camera to rate the drivers ability to stay within their lane.

  • The device will also rate the drivers ability to:

    •  follow speed limit regulations

    • stay within their lane utilizing cameras and written lane departure programs

  • The device will obtain GPS and speed limit information using the Google Maps API

  • A device that will use the location/speed of nearby vehicles and their driver ratings to provide automated recommendations for the follow situations:

    • Left turn assist

    • Hazardous driver/Emergency Vehicle warnings

    • Obstructions alerts such as debris, animals on streets
